Our Purpose

Community
We believe building community spirit and helping the environment go hand in hand. By providing children with mentorship and leading by example, our high school Regional Leaders foster connection with the children they teach. Additionally, by picking up trash and planting native plants, chapters improve their communities and encourage neighbors to get outdoors.

Education
Climate education is central to YIBC. We empower elementary and middle school children with knowledge to foster sustainability and inspire action.

Environmental Education for All
In addition to lessons at chapters' local elementary schools, we partner with ESL and educational nonprofits to provide virtual environmental lessons for people across the globe. From A1 ESL students in the Honduras to elementary ESL students in India to adults in Indonesia, and everything in between.

Action
Real-world environmental actions like organizing composting campaigns, picking up litter, and preventing textile waste through clothing drives are central to YIBC. We mobilize volunteers to create tangible environmental impacts in their communities.
